I’m actually really enjoying The Book Thief so far, and one of the passages that immediately made me think about social injustice were pages 12-15. It described how hundreds of people, mostly kids, were killed by bombs that were thrown out of air crafts. The fact that those people were killed because they were German is crazy, that just because of where you’re from you could get such hate. But I also try to keep in mind that this all happened during WW2 and those type of things wouldn’t be out of the ordinary, but today isn’t a world war and the fact that social injustice still exists is honestly pretty shocking to me.
